16th Annual Chicago Tribune Magnificent Mile Art Festival Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 13, 14 & 15, 2007 Show Location: Chicago, IL
Voted one of the Top 100 Art Festivals in the country by Sunshine Artist magazine, this show is one not to be missed! Scenic and energetic, this art festival is set up in the heart of downtown Chicago, across from the NBC6 Building and in front of the Chicago Tribune Tower. Only our top exhibitors present their work at this show and the atmosphere of the bustling city makes for a spectacular event. Two days are not enough for this festival…it is extended to three days, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the sights and sounds of this city art festival.
Like all Howard Alan events, the 16th Annual Chicago Tribune Magnificent Mile Art Festival is a juried show, which means each participating artist is hand-selected from hundreds of applicants to ensure a first-class festival with only the highest quality, original artwork. All exhibiting artists are required to be at the festival the entire weekend, giving you the unique opportunity to meet the creators of the art on display; commission a specific piece; ask questions about techniques; learn the sources of their inspirations; and purchase fine works of art at affordable prices. All of the work on display is available for purchase, and with prices ranging from $15 earrings to $50 prints to $20,000 sculptures, there is always something for everyone.

IRRESPONSIBLE PET OWNERS
so it is a beautiful morning this morning and hubby and i take the boys...
(you can see a pic of them at the link below)
http://www.therawartist.net/babies/iwanttobebymybrother
.jpg
for their morning walk. and we walk a little further down the road one way today -- mostly of my prompting to hubby... "come on just keep going.. they won't be out" --- well... hubby listened, and once again (like the exploding watermelon) he shouldn't have. -- 'they' were out. they meaning the crazy dogs at one of the neighbors. i live in a very rural area... so closest neighbors are like 1/4 mile down the road.. most here have at least 3 or 4 acres of land. the neighbors are nice.. good people - but i have one HUGE problem with a couple of the neighbors -- they allow their dogs to run free... they don't keep them in their homes, they make them live outside.. they don't chain them (which that is the only good thing.. those who make an animal live their life spent chained to a tree disgust me) --- but these people don't have fenced in yards. what this means is that our dogs have to suffer because a couple of people around here don't want to be responsible pet owners.
so this morning we were attacked by their 'part' pit-bull and their two other dogs... okay 'attacked' is a little severe because there was no biting (thankfully!) my boys were perfect gentleman.. and we turned immediately. moose didn't even bark, neither did stoney. but their dog wouldn't stop -- hair standing straight up on it's back it was snarling at my dogs and right in their faces and chasing us. i just kept hollering at the mean one of theirs to 'get out of here' -- their other two dogs stopped and went back - their mean one just kept on us.. had to be 1/8 of a mile down the road. then when it turned and started going back we thought things were safe. scott looked back and said.. 'here he comes again' -- and now running down the road full speed here he comes at us again. hair up on back, snarling and snipping at my boys. a car came by and that scared him away.
this is the huge downfall of living where we live... the majority of people who live in the country simply let their animals just run wild. so you are probably thinking.. 'why don't you just walk the other way' -- i would love to and yes.. that would be a very easy solution.. however we can't walk the other way either because of the rottweiler that is also an 'outside dog' in a yard a little less than 1/2 a mile down the road. hubby and i have been attacked by her while riding our bikes. she was biting at my wheel and running after us. i called the neighbors to ask if they could keep her in in the mornings so we could ride our bikes.. his response to me was take a newspaper and roll it up and when she comes at me again wave it at her, call her name and tell her to go home. uhhh yeah right.. okay. needless to say since then we haven't walked in that direction or rode our bikes on this road since then.
our dogs are indoor dogs. stoney was trained by his foster home not to go on furniture (otherwise he would.. trust me i've tried coaxing him) but moosey lays on the couch and he sleeps in bed with us. and because it is so important for them to be able to be outdoors we simply fenced in about an acre of our land so they could be safe from traffic, and so that they wouldn't be a nuisance if someone is wanting to walk by, or ride by.
so ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that is my vent for this morning. we feel 'trapped' in not being able to walk our dogs because of the other pet owners who feel it is okay for them to let their dogs run wild. so whatcha gonna do??? hubby says there are no leash laws or fence laws in the country.. and if there are all that will happen if we complain is that it is going to force an animal to be probably chained to a tree for their entire life.. which I don't want to happen.. and you know they won't put their dogs inside "because they don't believe in it" grrrrrr so... i'll keep you posted to the dog walking dilema.
DELETED COMMENTS
i logged into myspace this morning to find a message from tom that all comments that got approved last night had your own avatar pic next to the post instead of the pic of the person that left the comments. so i deleted all of the comments that had been approved last night. there were quite a few of them so if you were someone who was deleted feel free to comment again :-)

SUPERNOVA
so to my other die hard reality fans -- lukas won and will be fronting supernova. i have to admit he probably was the best fit for the band... and i did really like him. i just had a crush on toby.. and i LOVED dilana and really wanted a chick to win but i didn't think they would actually pick one. (i looooooooove dilana's hair!!)
okay so now rw/rw fresh meat is over.. workout is over.. big brother is over.. supernova is over.. what's a girl to do?? well i still have my project runway (kane's gone.. BOO).. and a not-so-new reality one i recently found PARCO P.I. (love it!).. and top chef and survivor have to be starting again soon right? -- so my reality fix is not in jeopardy. --- hey i never got to mention it.. but there was another raw foodist on a reality show called 'so you want to be a superhero' or something like that --- it was AWFUL.. seriously.. AWFUL. (it may still be going on). why is it they put the raw foodists on the really cheesy reality shows???? come on --- i want to see a raw foodist make big brother, project runway, survivor.. please!!!!!!!!
alright.. so alot going on here with my art. i'll be doing two more commissions for Wampango, a restaurant that has commissioned me to do work for their new restaurants. i have exciting news coming about our line of giclees (so stay tuned), my t-shirt line RAW GARB is coming.. there is SO much work involved so thx for the patience, but it will definitely be here before the holiday buying season. it is a limited edition line of tees so you will be able to pre-order on some of the tees. my giclee catalog for 2007 is being created currently and some other fun stuff so check back for updates!
