There are 91 days Between December 1st and February 29th.
At least a trace of snow was reported on 57 of those days with 52.1" of total snow.

It's my theory that so many pesky snow days led to what many of you refer to as the worst Winter in several decades. We actually have 52.8" of snow since July 1st and in order to crack the Top Ten snowiest seasons we need to surpass 58.3".
We may do it if the pesky snow pattern continues through March.

This also was by no means our coldest Winter. In fact both December and January registered above normal temperatures for the month. It was February with so many days in the  20s. Again, the pesky Winter weather trend.

So, as we approach Spring on March 20th this year just remember it could have always been worse. Let's just hope this La Nina year doesn't lead to a scorching summer as is often the case.

As always have a great week,
Tammie

Hi Tammie,

That's pretty interesting facts regarding the snow. I think we see the end of the tunnel w/ the snow. March can be very tricky as you get teased with the warmer temps, but then all of a sudden a snowstorm or two may just show up out of no where. That is nuts that we might just crack the top 10 Snowiest Seasons. We'll see what the rest of Winter has in store for us. Bring in Spring and then Summer!!!! Take care Tammie...

Hi Tammie,Lets hope that we don't crack the top ten in snow fall. But isn't this more snow than we have had in recent winters?I believe so.And when it would snow it would seem to go on for two or three days.Take care my friend. Your friend,Ray Cerr...

Well Tammie, as we near the top 10 with predicted snow today, I just sit an laugh. Heard it could be the worst since the 77-78. I say not even close. We've had a bit of snow, then a 100% melt out, then a tiny bit more, then back to meltout. In 77-78 winters, it remained COLD, and the snow built up to a massive snowpack. We should measure the maximum depth remaining, like they do atop or mid mountain for ski reports, to determine some kind of a record.
I skied down the steep backyard hill every day for several months in the past record winters. Today I can count on a melt to clear my driveway within 10 days or so.
Looking forward to a surprise 8 inch snowfall about mid April this year!! Gotta love winter.
