In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I will try to wear pink everynight of October. It's just a way to remind you to remind yourself AND all the women you know that early diagnosis turns a deadly disease into a curable condition.

I got my mammogram last month. I know women who make a day of it: a slightly uncomfortable squeeze between the plates, followed by shopping, lunch, maybe a movie. Plan about 6 months in advance so you can get the appointment times you want together. Don't let it slip your mind while you are taking care of everyone else. When you see me on Fox News at 9 Halloween night looking like a fashion fool in orange AND pink -- don't forget why!

Turns out pink is not a very plentiful color in my closet .. 4 days in and I'm already challenged. Lucky for me we're having a fall heatwave, though I do wonder if that sundress and sweater was a bit too casual friday! Have you noticed my ever supportive partner, Mark Suppelsa, is on board? Can he possibly have 20 pink ties? We'll see.

I've figured out that this PINK thing is only effective if I tell everyone I see and meet WHY I am wearing pink. Pink is too acceptable. Maybe the associated color should be something more noticeable or unusual -- neon green or electric blue. On the other hand, TELLING people why I'm wearing pink does achieve my purpose of keeping breast cancer prevention top of mind. It starts a conversation ... and hopefully that raises some awareness and lowers the death rate.

Robin: I'm putting your "Pink" cause in the next issue of my newspaper. I'll send you a copy. People will remember and understand when it's published. Just as they do the ribbons.

Thank you again for your efforts.
