Here's what some research literature says to do about a live rat in a toilet. Don''t panic and flush, because rats are good swimmers and will likely return. Some homeowners have poured a cup of bleach into the toilet, waited ten minutes, and returned to find the rat dead. Pouring D-con into the toilet is not likely to work. You can also call an exterminator who can use a wild animal loop snare to remove the rat, and remove it alive.
