Last week I reported on a breach of security at an east coast investment firm which resulted in Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer's social security number being made available over the internet. Our story was one of several we've done concerning P2P file-sharing programs, and the risks they pose. In our story last week, we didn't have time to mention that another breach had been identified a month earlier, resulting in personal information from more than 1,000 patients at Walter Reed Medical Center being made available on the internet. The Walter Reed case resembles our investigation of a year eariler, when we showed how we were able to access hundreds of medical records from the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida...again, using Limewire.
