Have you ever been on a trip or vacation and misplaced your hotel key (or card, as the case might be), only to have a front desk clerk happily replace it--no questions asked?

Ever wonder if that same hotel clerk might just as happily (and wrongly) give a complete stranger a key to your room--no questions asked?

Well, I have.

This is a longer version of the report that aired on 2/13/08.

Great video, good info. I have another one for you to check out. Pick a parked car. Go write down the vin# in the windshield, left side near the dash. Call any dealership that sells that vehicle make. Tell them you got locked out and ask them what you can do. Answer, "give me your vin# and we will make you a key for $$." You say, "ok, I will send a friend to pick it up because I am stuck here. What is your name so I can tell my friend who to ask for. God bless you, you are a god send, thank you so very much." Bingo, you just stole a car because most dealerships are not checking. Maybe your wife or daughter has been watched by some pervert, she gets a surprise when she gets in her car because no one ever looks in the back seat of a car they just unlocked. Let your imagination take you from here.

Solution, slide a piece of thin card board over the vin #. Pass it on please.

Hey liftstation, that is very good information to pass on, a cop friend of mine told me that before.

Thank you devildog. Another little trick for those ladies when they are home alone. Put those car keys next to your bed. Should you hear anything you don't like during the night, press that panic button for your car. Please make sure it works from that location before you get to excited. A battery change will help that signal. But you will be surprised at how far away it will work even from inside your house or apartment.
