Bulls #1 Pick Fulfills Longstanding Southside Legacy

  Derrick Rose has fulfilled the unfulfilled legacy left by Benjamin "Benji" Wilson. He played in the gymnasium named in honor of Ben Wilson and he adopted Ben Wilson's number 25, and today is the number one draft pick and the most popular Chicago player since Ben Wilson was ranked number one from Simeon. The final tribute will be if Wilson continues to wear number 25 when he joins the Bulls. I also hope that Rose reflects the sense of social consciousness that Ben had, and then through his mother with the Ben Wilson Foundation and their commitment to Black community development, especially in the Englewood area.   Mark S.
