I am so happy that most parents were smart enough to send their children to school on the first day of school. I'm also glad that Sen. Meeks did get the media coverage the Chicago Public Schools needs.
I think it worked out well for both sides. Children were in school where they are safer and could learn and the funding issues of the Chicago Public Schools has a light shined on them.
However, I hope that Sen. Meeks continue to pressure funding but find better ways to protest. I'm sure he can come up with something, he's a creative man.

I am offended that State Sen. Emil Jones would call anyone a Uncle Tom because they don't agree with him.
As a African-American undying supporter of Hillary Clinton this is just a small part of what we have been going through. To suggest that someone is "less black" because they support a certain candidate.
I'm a card carrying member of the Rainbow Push Coalition, I voted for Al Sharpton and I support Hillary Clinton. I will continue to support Hillary Clinton. I believe that the Democratic Party gave Hillary a raw deal. I will voice my concerns when I go to the polls.
The Democratic Party is currently a mess! It is mostly due to Obama supporters. When you have a State Senate President calling people names what do you think other angry/bitter (in my book sad) Obama supporters are doing?
If only the media would focus a little less on what Michelle Obama is wearing and more on what African-American supporters of Hillary Clinton have to go through maybe unity would be possible. Until someone get a wake up call don't look forward to Unity and singing of spirituals in the Democratic party.
You don't want to piss off 18 million VOTERS!

I went to the meeting yesterday at 6:30pm that took place at Luther South. It was wonderful to see not only the current student body but to see generations of former students there. It just shows how much Luther South means to people. The importance of a Christian based school especially in this day and age.
With children killing children, this is a school that is a shinning light. You have teachers that care and a principal that knows every student personally. The board voted 23-6 to keep the school open.
However, the work has just began for Luther South. The school still faces a big deficit and there is not a guarentee they (we) can overcome that. Luther South needs YOU. You can donate via Paypal at their website: WWW.LUTHERSOUTH.ORG

Luther South located at 3130 W. 87 street may be closing for good. Luther South is a small school with about 240 students. The school was founded in 1951 and has graduated thousands of students. It is now facing a $400,000 deficit. We will find out July 30, 2008 at a open meeting at Luther South (6:30PM)
Over its 57-year history, Luther South has educated thousands of Chicago-area boys and girls, with many going on to careers in sports, politics and music. These include the rapper and actor Common, whose real name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., as well as Chris Boden, a Chicago TV sportscaster now with Comcast; Illinois state Rep. Renee Kosel (R-81st) of New Lenox; Valerie Roberson, president of Olive-Harvey College; Gary Garner, former president of Soft-Sheen; and Robert “Scoop” Jackson, a sports journalist with ESPN and ME!
A million dollar check would be great but prayers will do even better. You can read about Luther South HERE

I normally support and understand alot of the things Sen./Rev. Meeks says but this makes no sense to me. Telling Chicago Public School children to skip the first day of school? I understand that Rev. Meeks wants more funding for CPS but this is the wrong way. This could cost the CPS millions of dollars.
According to CBS Chicago (sorry fox) the CPS gets $18 million for every 1% increase in attendance. That number is based off the FIRST day of school.
Can someone tell me, how letting the State keep money will make them give more money?

Whitney Houston has a new track/cut/single (unofficial) song out. It features Akon (the new hit maker). It's not a classic Whitney big power ballad but it has a nice beat and catchy lyrics. Something that could catch on fire on radio.
You can hear it at www.afreshmusic.com I believe that it is a serious attempt and a step in the right direction.

I happen to turn on Fox news in the morning and left it there. No annoying person was there. I still don't know the people that replaced David and Tamron Hall but I was so happy to see them gone. Maybe it's just for today but Mike Barz (I think that's his last name) All I know is he's the most annoying guy on Chicago television. He was out in the cold....it really was great for me.
Keep it like this. Although I would love to see Darlene Hill in the mornings again.
Patrick Elwood & Nancy Loo. I love Kelly Kraft too. Darlene Hill instead of Mike Barz would be great. A new weather person would be nice too :)

I'm sure everyone is curious...who is Demetrius voting for? Well I have to vote for not only who will best run our country but who will best run the country for me. I looked long and hard at the candidates. I need someone that will fight for me and won't get intimidated by the ol' boys club. Someone that can march into that oval office and get right to business. That person is Hillary Clinton!
VOTE HILLARY CLINTON because sometimes you need a womans touch!

Stella Foster of the Chicago Suntimes was the first in the media I heard say it
"NOW ACTRESS Jessica Alba and boyfriend Cash Warren are preggers! As are Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry and Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. These out-of-wedlock scenarios coming out of Hollywood send the wrong message to young STUPID GIRLS and BOYS. Yeah, I said it!"
I couldn't agree more with her! These celebs are sending the wrong messages to Stupid Girls and Boys. These scenarios seem to be the new IN thing...I hope this is one thing that does not catch on because we think teenage out of wedlock pregnancies are high now...JUST WAIT and unlike these big sinning...I mean these big money making celebs, the government AKA hard working Americans will be supporting these children.

There are only a few times when a white police officer get treated like a black man. Drew Peterson is innocent until proven guilty not guilty until proven innocent. You regularly see this type of treatment given to black males. Either way it's ashame that America still hasn't learned the laws that governs us.
The media is microscoping this mans life. Not only is his wife missing and he's left raising his children alone but it is also destroying his life! It pains me to think about what this is doing to his children. Their mother is missing and everyone is saying their dad killed her. No evidence but people have already passed judgement!
Dear Media,
Please give us a break and cover REAL news! We are still a country at war, gas prices are higher than ever and the real estate market is in the dumps. You mean you can't find anything else but covering Drew Peterson and making his life a living hell?

Yes I know..it's been a while since I posted and it's been a while since Tamron Hall has been on air in Chicago but I'm still missing her :( My morning aren't the same...especially since I no longer watch Fox. I did try even when I said I wouldn't but still it wasn't the same.
I miss the old gang of David and Tamron Hall and don't forget Bruce Wolf and Michelle Leigh.
I can't believe that David and Tamron are no longer part of my mornings that would have been like Motown splitting up Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Now I kill time with my website dedicated to music www.afreshmusic.com

Is Darlene Hill now in the mornings? Yesterday morning I turned on Fox to see how was it without Tamron and David (terrible) but I saw Darlene Hill. So will she be in the mornings again?
It would be great if Darlene Hill and Nancy Loo did the mornings...

I guess this is what I get for going away for a while. I come back and it's this tall slinky guy in place of David. I'm sure this new guy might be nice but I don't like him. I always loved Patrick with Tamron. I knew David was moving to the Ten news but this just screws up my mornings.
I say Tamron and Patrick or I'm leaving! The chemistry those 2 have is great. The new guy is just not working for me. Sorry new guy.
Guess I'll go back to NBC and CBS

The State of Illinois really cracks me up. You get hired with out a high school diploma to drive the "Cheif of Staff" around? The real kick is you get paid $70,000 a year! Actually what is so sad is that you get promoted to do other things, like policy!!! Someone with out a High School diploma is over policy?
Fox come on you have to pick this story up! Read the Suntimes won't you!
'Make love to me, or you'll lose your job'
Male state worker sues female boss
February 26, 2007
BY WHITNEY WOODWARD Sun-Times Springfield Bureau
A federal sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a $70,000-a-year male driver against a top female state administrator has cleared a legal hurdle and is set for trial.
The lawsuit by Carlos Estes, whose primary job was to chauffeur Department of Human Services chief of staff Teyonda Wertz, alleges Wertz propositioned him for sex when the two shared a hotel room on a two-day state business trip.
Carlos Estes, a former chauffeur for Department of Human Services chief of staff Teyonda Wertz, has filed a federal lawsuit alleging she propositioned him for sex.

Estes, 36, also claims Wertz called him an "armpiece" and a "nice boy-toy" while serving as her personal assistant in 2003. Wertz, 58, denies the allegations in court filings. She declined to comment to the Sun-Times.
A federal judge last week rejected the state's bid to throw out the lawsuit and set a May 14 trial date in Chicago.
Estes and Wertz shared a Springfield hotel suite on a business trip in May 2003. Estes contends Wertz demanded he sleep with her.
"She said to me, 'You'll make love to me, or you'll lose your job,'" Estes said in a deposition.
'I was scared'
Estes said he rebuffed her advance while both lay in the same hotel bed. When asked why he didn't move to a sofa in the suite, Estes said, "I was scared."
DHS Secretary Carol Adams, a close friend of Wertz, fired Estes less than a month after the alleged encounter.
The stated reason for his firing was misuse of a state vehicle. Estes allegedly parked a state car in a restricted lot at O'Hare Airport while on vacation. He had already been reprimanded for using a state car for personal business, court records show.
Wertz denied ever propositioning Estes or asking him to share a bed with her. Wertz said she regrets sharing a hotel suite with him -- a move she said was necessary because the hotel was fully booked.
"There was nowhere else for him to sleep, and there was a pull-out couch in the living room," the $93,600-a-year chief of staff said in her deposition.
The suit claims Wertz acted jealously after learning Estes was in a relationship with a woman in March or April 2003. A few weeks later, Wertz was "frantically crying, emotional, and said to me 'I need you to be there for me,'" Estes said in a deposition.
A spokesman for DHS would not comment on the Estes lawsuit.
Adams once disciplined her chief of staff for instructing Estes to pick up her dry cleaning on state time, court records show. Wertz has gone by a handful of names, has an undisclosed criminal conviction and holds several Social Security numbers, court documents show.
Estes also has three convictions from the early 1990s
