Jeep owners need be aware and pay close attention to their vehicles. Incidents of Catalytic converters being cut and stolen from Jeep vehicles parked on residential streets are being reported. As only a few instances of the thefts have been reported, not many details are available at this time. The vehicles of choice are Jeep vehicles and so far only thefts from Jeeps have been reported. Jeep vehicles include; Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Compass, Liberty and Commander. It is unknown why Jeeps are specifically targeted or why the catalytic converter is specifically targeted. However, we believe the converters are targeted because of the materials used to produce the emission device.
If you own a Jeep vehicle and your catalytic converter was recently stolen, if you have not reported the incident to the police, please do so as soon as possible. Also, if you have any details regarding any of the thefts, please call your local police district and report any information you may have. Your local district can be reached by dialing 3-1-1.

I was born in Chicago and have lived in the Chicago area my entire life. I am very active with the local community and work closely with CAPS. I used to travel a lot and when possible, I photographed some of the places I have been. I have placed a few of my photographs in my photo area for members to view.
