Greetings all:

Television stations around the city are gearing up for the February 2009 debut of high definition broadcast. And personally I think this may not be such a great idea. Certainly not for me...I want low definition, nothing much beyond two glistening eyes and a smear of pinkish pout. And Hi Def may not be so good for you viewers. There are things you do not need to see...the damage done by immoderate sunbathing...the nose-cicles growing during a winter weather liveshot. These things are horrifying to consider and even worse to observe. There are merciful reasons our eyesight begins to fade just as body parts sag and drift in unappealing ways. I see no good reason to fight nature's plan with technology. Are you with me here? Just say "No Def".

Regards,

Lilia

I say no to Hi DEF because I think this is just another way to screw the consumers out of more money. It's bad enough that we are getting ripped off by all the cable and saltilite companies just to watch television. Earlier in the week President Bush was talking about $800 checks for taxpayers and the greedy congress don't want to fork over the money, well why don't they go after these companies and get the money back for us. Those idiots up in congress probably think Hi DEF is more important than people like myself.

I also think this it's just another way to control everyone and then you wonder why people can't afford to live in the U.S.A.

This is no longer a free country and I can't wait until I drop dead so I don't have to put up with all this crap any more. Politicians make me sick, they just get richer and we get poorer...

So they can take the Hi DEF and stick it where the sun don't shine!

Maybe we're supposed to use the $800 to buy new flatscreen tv's.

This is a scam by companies who make over-priced electronics. They easily duped the government into making this mandatory changeover a law. Millions can't afford to buy new tvs, let alone being able to afford to purchase a converter box, which will run over $100. And what happens if you get one of these tvs or converter boxes, will we now be able to drop cable? Cable, remember when we paid for commercial free viewing? And, Comcast's stranglehold on the area is based on their red-lining area. A friend of mine lives in the north suburbs and pays less than $12 per month with fees and taxes for basic cable; in my area, the western suburbs, it's now over $19 per month; my city doesn't care about this discrimination and neither does Comcast. Satellite tv isn't that much better. We need a consumer's revolt!

HEY HEY NOW...the country NEEDS this mandatory upgrade to keep up with technology! So it may a cost some money...I think its a small price to pay for a better picture quality. The government is also issuing checks to people who qualify, for assistance in upgrading. People need to stop stressing! At least they gave us fair warning. Furthermore, I like the high def, not to be looking for blemishes in news anchors, but to enjoy programs they rely on detail. Especially for outdoors or scenry, or inside historic buildings where it is nice to see everything. Especially if you are not financially set to go there in person. I thank the government for keeping our country up to date!

I think the government should give us the converter boxes for free for all the sets you have in your house. why do we have to pay more for cable and free TV because the government decided to free up the analog signal which alwos the cable and manufactors of boxes and corporations to make more profits off the free Tv bandwith they are using. your right it's not a free country anymore or BY THE PEOPLE< FOR THE PEOPLE< and of the people. nows it's just greed and big business

Fox News had better step up and go Hi Def. Why watch your news when we can now watch ABC and NBC in Hi def? CBS will be hi def this summer when they move to their new spot at Block 37.

More and more consumers are buying flat screen hi def tv's. It is a shame that your news is not keeping pace, your network is with many fine show and sports as in Football, all in Hi Def.

Yeah I love my analog cable. Had the digital for a short time but CAN NOT STAND how long it takes to change channels, it's painful.

I'll admit that Hi Def channels look great on a Hi Def TV, but watching standard def on a high def TV looks like crap - like an old VHS tape.

If you are worried about your appearence, I can state from first hand knowledge by running into you occasionally at Charity Events, you, My Lady, have absolutely nothing to worry about. You are not only one of our cities best reporters, but a true natural beauty. (Besides, I love my sports & documentaries in hi-def!)

I'm a long-time reporter at Fox News with more than 25 years of journalism experience. In the course of my travails and travels I have worked in wires, newspapers and television, in Chicago and Albuquerque. Probably the most important lesson in all this a healthy respect for the great many ways there are to live life on our round planet...the second most important lesson is never wear high heels to a gang war. That's the thing about chasing news for a living...sometimes you have to run!
