What a thrilling weekend for birdwatching! Everything is coming through town...following their ancient urges through our modern landscape. Here's a partial tally of sightings at North Pond: lots of indigo buntings...if you've never seen one it is a small but insanely blue bird. Also, flocks of american redstarts, with bright salmon wing patches and a nervous way of fluttering before they land. Myrtle warblers, black and white warblers, white-crowned sparrows, white-throated sparrows, kinglets, song sparrows...and lots ducklings trailing after mom.

Go out and play!

These ducklings we down by the Fox River last week and the flower pics are from our backyard.

I have 2 hummingbird feeders in the backyard and change the nectar every week, but haven't seen anything this year, when we usually have a lot. Any ideas?? Hope the pics work!

Thanks for the beautiful photos! Are those goslings? or ducklings? Spring does seems to be a bit late this year...I've kept a journal for years and things seems to be arriving maybe 10 or 12 days later than usual. We're headed for spring now for sure!

I was just down by the river again this morning and I think I found the same family of geese roaming around the same area. They're goslings....obviously not very old too. Here's the pic from this morning. They're getting bigger. ;-)

What gorgeous pics! Nature is sooooo beautiful and soothing. Fortunately where I live there is a lot of this. I consider myself very fortunate. Thanks.
