Just one week away... a 200 mile adventure!  Here's the press release for the Madison to Chicago Relay.  I'm the Captain of the Media Team.  I hope these people are still my friends 8 days from now!!!!!   Photos and details to come following the race. - Amy

CHICAGOLAND MEDIA TEAM ANNOUNCES PARTICIPATION IN THE MADISON-CHICAGO 200 RELAY 

May 21, 2008; Chicago – The first ever Media Team, made up of familiar names and faces in the Chicago media, will participate in the Madison-Chicago 200 Relay (the “MC200”) on June 6th and 7th, 2008.  From TV, Radio, and Print --- journalists who are used to quick soundbites and snappy headlines have committed to make the long 200 mile haul from Madison to Chicago. 

All but one member of the team is based in Chicago.  The exception is Bart Yasso of Runner's World Magazine, who has just written a book "My Life on the Run."  Bart is no stranger to Chicago and will have a book signing at Borders Books in downtown Chicago on Thursday night, June 5th, which is the night before the relay itself.  Not only has Bart competed in relay races before, but he has also completed races on every continent.

John Garcia is the only team member who has run a Madison to Milwaukee to Chicago relay before.  Team Captain Amy Freeze has completed relays including The Hood to Coast Relay in Oregon and The Colorado Outward Bound Relay in the Rocky Mountains.

Many of the team members are self-proclaimed "middle of the packers”, but they are more than members of the media that run --- they are also moms and dads, a cancer survivor, triathletes, and more!  Team mottos:  “One foot in front of the other.... the faster you run, the faster you're done.... and don't let the cougars catch you!”
